Rib N Reef is one of the few true cigar lounges in Montréal — a room built for the end of the evening, where a hand-rolled cigar meets a glass of aged cognac and the night is allowed to slow down.

A great steak dinner deserves a proper finish. When the plates are cleared, our guests retire to the cigar lounge to draw on a fine cigar, order a digestif, and let the conversation run long. It is a ritual we have kept since 1960, and one that has become as much a part of Rib N Reef as the open charcoal pit.

The lounge is comfortable, discreet and unhurried — leather, low light and the quiet company of people who know how to end an evening well. Whether you are closing a business dinner, marking an occasion, or simply not ready to leave the table, it is the natural next room.

Cigars, and what to pour with them

• The selection. A curated humidor of hand-rolled cigars, from an approachable after-dinner smoke to something for the connoisseur.
• Cognac & Armagnac. The classic pairing — warm, round and long, made for a full-bodied cigar.
• Single-malt scotch. Peat and smoke against tobacco; ask the team for a match to your cigar.
• Port & aged rum. A sweeter finish that stands up beautifully to a richer wrapper.
