Patrik Schmidt says it’s easy to be "the wine guy" at the Rib'n Reef!! With the most striking cellar in town, that brags 600 different brands, 10,000 bottles and meriting the Wine Spectators Award of Excellence, Schmidt is not shy to admit his devotion to the Reef's cosmopolitan cellar and goes out of his way to be approachable to the patrons! “I am on hand to discuss our various options with our clients, encouraging them and briefing them on the various flavours suited for their tables needs while respecting their budgets!” Schmidt believes that it is important to be knowledgeable about food for his position. "How could you pair a wine with a dish you know nothing about? Or how about ingredients that can drastically change a dish or the wine such as peppers, artichokes or truffles? Some of the most wine savvy people I know are also great cooks. Coincidence…? I doubt it!!" |
