The Sommelier

The Rib's wine cellar holds 12 000 bottles including 600 international brands. With it's vast selection of Bourdeaux, Bourgognes, Sparkling wines and Champagne, it is no surprise that the Rib' has consistently won Wine Spectator awards each year since 2002 as well as Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Managing the reputation of the Rib's cellar is not a simple task but Sommelier Richard Rodriguez has adopted it with passion.

Richard's thirty years of experience was inspired by a single bottle of Quintarelli. As he started working as bus boy assisting sommeliers and learning about every wine in the cellar, he pursued his career managing the wine list of small luxury hotels as well as Relais & Chateau establishments throughout North America and the Caribbean. Building upon his expertise; Richard cultivated his passion in the finest restaurants and amongst distinguished clientele. The Rib' is his fourth Wine Spectator Award winning restaurant.

As second to the Maître D' of the Rib', Richard oversees all Wine and alcohol being served at the Rib'. There is no mistaking this sommelier as you will often hear him saying "I enjoy wines that taste more expensive than they cost" and "Good wine makers make good wine." Richard enjoys nothing more than delighting customers with recommendations for classic or new tastes.
