60’s

1961 The Rib’n Reef opens its doors on Decarie, the decade’s most fashionable street. This family restaurant was the only one to survive Decarie’s conversion to a boulevard.
1967 Montreal’s time of tremendous growth: Expo ’67, the opening of Place-des-Arts, and Charles de Gaulle’s historic exclamation on the balcony of Montreal’s City Hall…
1968 Robert Charlebois, Mouffe, Louise Forestier, and Yvon Deschamps perform Osstidcho!
1969 The Expos take to the field for the first time. On television, Neil Armstrong walks on the moon.

70’s

70-79 The Rib’n Reef becomes Montreal’s leading Supper Club. This is the era of dining and dancing, when couples came out time and again to fill the dance floor.
1976 Montreal hosts the Summer Olympics. Olympic Stadium, built during Mayor Jean Drapeau’s tenure, leaves a lasting impression on taxpayers…
1977 Charles Dutoit takes over as conductor of the MSO, and the Alouettes win their third Grey Cup in seven years.
1978 Gilles Villeneuve wins the first checkered flag of his career at the Canadian Grand Prix.

80’s

80-89 Once-young couples are now sporting a few wrinkles, but these Rib’n Reef regulars are now more experienced dancers!
1980 The “No” side wins the referendum, rejecting the concept of sovereignty-association.
1984 Celine Dion sings Une colombe for Pope John Paul II and 65000 young people at Olympic Stadium.
1988 Les Francofolies de Montreal makes its debut.

90’s

1992 Peter Katsoudas becomes owner of the Rib’n Reef. The steakhouse and its wine cellar become famous.
1993 The Montreal Canadiens celebrate their 24 th Stanley Cup victory.
1996

Jacques Villeneuve climbs the podium after a second-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix, following in his father’s footsteps 15 years later.

1998 Montreal endured the most frightful ice storm in Canadian History .
1999 Hockey Fans gave Wayne Gretzky a fond farewell off the ice and into a management suit.

2000’s

2000 Rib’n Reef enters the new millennium with a million-dollar facelift.
2002 The Montreal Allouettes were the Grey Cup Champions!
2003 Montreal jazz icon, Charlie Biddle, passes away.
2004 The Montreal International Jazz Festival marks it’s 25th anniversary, and Cirque du Soleil turns 20.
2005 The Rolling Stones visit Montreal to restart their ongoing world tour.
2006 Winter Olympics held in Turin, Italy.
